One of the unique features of Caramel dry-cleaning software is the smart integration of both permanent, reusable barcodes and temporary barcodes. Every garment has a unique identity and history, allowing you to track them throughout the cleaning process.

Durability and Longevity

Our barcodes are designed to withstand wear and tear, as they can endure up to 40 washes without fading, thanks to the high-quality materials used in their production.

Types of Barcodes in Cargamel Software

There are two primary methods for assigning barcodes within the caramel software:

  1. Pre-Printed Barcodes (98)
  2. Invoice-Based Printing (97)

Each method has its own usage process, advantages, and disadvantages. You can also implement both methods simultaneously.

Pre-Printed Barcodes

In this method, barcodes are printed in bulk up to 40,000 at a time and initially do not belong to any specific customer or garment. When an order is registered, these barcodes are assigned to the desired garments, giving them identity.

Advantages:

  • Reduced Human Error: The process of assigning barcodes to garments minimizes the risk of mistakenly attaching the wrong barcode. Staff select the garment first and then assign the barcode, significantly decreasing the chance of errors.

  • Smaller Size: Instead of using an 11 cm tag, you can opt for a 6 cm tag or even smaller, as it contains only the barcode without additional information.

  • Lower Chance of Removal by Customers: Customers are less likely to remove smaller tags, which helps maintain garment history.
Two reasons for this are: 1) Smaller tags are less intrusive for customers, and 2) Personal information is not displayed on the barcode, catering to customer privacy.

  • Better Implementation for Permanent Barcodes: These barcodes can be sewn onto garments or applied with heat, enhancing durability.

Disadvantages:

  • Initial Time Investment: The process of assigning barcodes may take longer during the software’s initial setup. However, since around 50% of garments return to the dry cleaner after a few months, this time will significantly decrease over time.

  • Lack of Visible Information: To access order details and customer information, staff must scan the barcode, which isn’t visible on the barcode paper.

Invoice-Based Printing

In this method, barcodes are printed only after completing the customer’s order. The barcode text can include garment and customer information.

Advantages:

  • Faster Assignment: Simply click the print button for the item, and the software will automatically print and assign barcodes to the garments.

  • Visible Item Details: Customer names and order details are printed alongside the barcode, making it easy for staff to identify items without scanning barcode.

  • Better for Temporary Barcodes: This method is more effective for one-time-use barcodes.

Disadvantages:

  • Increased Risk of Human Error: After printing, the software assumes that staff will correctly attach the barcodes to the right garments. If a staff member accidentally assigns a barcode to the wrong item, it can lead to lost garments.

  • Greater Likelihood of Removal by Customers: As mentioned, larger tags may annoy customers, and displaying personal information might not be appreciated by everyone.

Conclusion

By offering both pre-printed and invoice-based barcodes, we provide flexibility and security, helping businesses maintain high standards in service while enhancing customer satisfaction.
